Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar is a town with a history of over a thousand years. One of the first places to embrace mass tourism in Spain, this dynamic town has become a major tourist destination. Meeting place of many different cultures, Lloret has managed to maintain its own traditional customs and identity while incorporating new values as suitable for a cosmopolitan town.

This is not really the place to savour 'the real Spain' although you'll find another world of yesteryear a short distance away in the beautiful mountainous hinterland.

Europe's biggest water park, an aquatic zoo and the Universal Studios Port Aventura theme park are all within easy reach.

Lloret is situated in a wonderful setting on the Costa Brava, in the southern European Mediterranean. Located just 75 km from Barcelona, 30 km from Girona and only 100 km from France, the town has excellent land, sea and air communications. With about 7 km of coastline, the beaches and coves of Lloret have received awards year after year, the EU blue flag and the Spanish Tourism Quality System "Q" grade.

As well as beaches, Lloret also boasts a rich cultural and natural heritage. Iberian settlements, medieval castles, hermitages and the gardens bear witness to the history of the town.

Hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking are some of the many activities available to visitors, and it is an excellent base for exploring the rest of the Costa Brava.

The Lloret cultural agenda offers an interesting programme of music and sports events, as well as a wide range of activities centred on local traditions, folklore and festivals. Good tourist infrastructure, modern facilities and a wide range of hotels, restaurants, shops and entertainment make Lloret a worthwhile tourist destination.
